Yoga Class

1. What is yoga?

Yoga is far more than the super flexible bodies you see out there. Yoga today is a way of life originating from India over 5,000 years ago. A lot has changed over time in terms of the way we see yoga, especially today with many fitness trends and 'instagrammable' pics. Yoga is the balance of your body, mind, and spirit and whilst there are eight types of yoga, all deal with the spiritual, emotional,  and mental realms with 'union' as a core goal.

2. Is yoga a religion?

Yoga is not a religion. It has no bible or other doctrines that its students follow. Instead, it is a practical system for healthy living, which includes movement, diet, and a set of ethical principles (such as non-violence, and self-restraint, for example). For some, however,  yoga may become your own way of life, in a sense your own religion but also the religion of unity. You decide how deep you wish to dive into the topic and how dedicated you wish t be

3. Must I be fit or flexible to practice yoga?
Our classes for all ages, levels of fitness and flexibility. Secondly, yoga is not a competitive sport! Instead, yoga helps us to look at our bodies and ourselves from the inside out.

We encourage you not to compare yourself to the student next to you. Yoga is experiential, not performance art and the aim here is to find what feels right for YOU.

So it doesn't matter whoever you are, however old you are, however long it has been since you stretched or moved, yoga is for all of you.

4. Do I need any past yoga experience to attend class?
Nope! Our sessions are beginner sessions to intermediate. You will be shown how to modify your poses, and we encourage you to move at your own pace, listening to your body and respecting your limitations.

5. I have a previous injury. Can I still try yoga?
If you suffer from minor back or neck pain, repetitive stress injuries, arthritis, migraines, trouble breathing

- do not only try yoga, but you’re also bound to benefit from it. Just see us at the beginning of class to discuss your individual health circumstances.

Please note, however: If you suffer from any severe or unusual medical conditions (such as heart disease, high blood pressure, a previous head/neurological injury, a high-risk pregnancy, etc.), it is your responsibility to get permission from your personal physician before embarking on any new exercise program. Again, please inform us of any and all individual health concerns before class. We will be happy to assist where possible or recommend a more specialized teacher for injuries depending on your situation.

6. What should I wear/bring to class?
First off, come ready to practice in bare feet. This is the traditional, practical, and most awesome way to practice. Bring your yoga mat, a small towel, and your water bottle. Use comfy clothes as it will make your session more enjoyable. Loose or stretchy clothing such as leggings/short pants is recommended and a light t-shirt; the perfect combi. Most importantly, bring your good vibes and openness to learning new things.

7. How can I incorporate yoga into my fitness routine?
Most people use yoga to compliment everything else they like to do. Practising yoga will help your body both to become stronger and more flexible. Many people forget to stretch or neglect its importance, yoga will bring that yummy goodness after your fitness session. You can do it as a hobby, a passion or a pop in session.

8. What is the best time to practice yoga?

Yoga can be practised at any time of the day and at any time you feel like. We recommend booking a morning class for sunrise to get the best of the morning vibes through your day, or at sunset where we are grateful for the day well spent, and look forward to tomorrow.
